Sunday Morning Finds 11: Winter Sports

Each Sunday I'll be featuring unique items I find on Etsy. You'd think with the winter storm coming our way in a few days I'd be posting warm weather items and glasses with little umbrellas in them. Well, I say embrace the storm!

You can find the rest of my Sunday Morning Finds here and on Pinterest here.
Hope everyone stays warm!

Sunday Morning Finds 10: Vintage

Each Sunday I'll be featuring unique items I find on Etsy. This week's picks are a throwback to the 1950's and 1960's. I'm in love with that Garrison cap (and might be thinking about purchasing it for my collection of vintage military stuff.)
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Story Kit Subscriptions from Ali Edwards

For all of you rock dwellers, Ali Edwards has created a subscription based scrapbooking kit called Story Kits. There are three different applications: Story Kit, Stamp Kit and the digital story edition that you get for FREE when you subscribe to both the Story and Stamp kits. I'm a HUGE fan of Ali and I love all of her products.

Currently I subscribe to Studio Calico's Project Life kits and even though I enjoy getting them and working with them, I find myself not using the whole kit. Which leaves me with quite a bit of leftovers. Occasionally I'll use the leftovers in other projects but I still have a ton of surplus stuff. This year I'm not going to try to keep with with a weekly PL album, but will be adding stuff randomly. (For instance, I'm going to see Eddie Izzard tonight at Foxwoods and you can bet your sweet ass something about that will be included in my album!) I'm also going smaller this year and am using a 6x8 Sn@p album. (Photos coming soon, guys. I promise!) Anywho, I think once my Studio Calico subscription runs out, I'll be trying out the Story Kits from Ali.

Here's a look at some of her other Story Kits. (All photos by Ali)

What are you guys using to document you stories? Kits? Albums? Full size or smaller?

Sunday Morning Finds 09: Quilts

Each Sunday I'll be featuring unique items I find on Etsy. My sewing machine is 1,400 miles from me and looking at these items makes me miss it. Big time. I've got a few standard quilts under my belt but I'm dying to try my hand at one of the puff quilts.

2015: Year of the Popsicle

One of the projects I wanted to tackle this year was to make something (foodie) each week. I wasn't sure what I wanted to make until I was trolling Pinterest at 3am one morning. (Yay, insomnia!) And so, I give you The Year of the Popsicle! You can find all of my popsicle pins here. There will be creamsicles, icy pops, boozy pops and more. First up is the Greek yogurt lime creamsicles. I used the Norpro Ice Pop Maker, which came with the sticks and it worked like a charm.

Recipe:

1 3/4 cup of milk
1 14oz can of sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup lime juice
1 small container of Chobani Greek Yogurt
lime zest (optional)

Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. It does take a bit of mixing to incorporate the condensed milk. Pour into mold, insert sticks and let freeze up to 4 hours. To unmold, run under warm water until the popsicle comes free of mold.

These turned out great. They were creamy and had the perfect amount of lime flavor to them. Next time I may try using Yoplait instead of the Chobani yogurt. You could also swap out the milk for almond or soy milk.

Yes, it's been sub zero around here. But I'm enjoying these while I pretend I'm somewhere warm.

Just This: Downton Abbey

One of my goals for this blog was to have two recurring features each week. In the future, I'd like to have more but baby steps for now. The first series is Sunday Morning Finds. You can find all of those posts here.  I've spent the past week trying to come up with something else and it didn't come to me until I was watching YouTube videos at 3am. There is some seriously funny stuff on there! So, my second weekly feature will be titled Just This and it will basically be videos I find on YouTube. They might be music videos, movie trailers, skits, tutorials, movies or the random 'look at these cute dogs trying to be friends with cats' videos. Just anything that strikes a chord with me that I wanna share with you guys.

First up is a two part Downton Abbey spoof that was floating around Facebook this week. It features the Downton cast plus Jeremy Piven and George Clooney. This totally had me cracking up!

Hope you enjoy :)

Sunday Morning Finds 08: Planning

Each Sunday I'll be featuring unique items I find on Etsy. This week is more of a Sunday Afternoon Finds as I spent most of the morning in 40 degree weather holding signs in support for law enforcement. It's a new year and what better way to get organized than a new planner and supplies!

I'm also trying out a new format this week. You can check out the Etsy treasury I made, which includes more supplies here.
